Biomass training

Today has been one day that show how limitless knowledge is out there regarding biomass. We were asked to service a biomas boiler (Herz Pelletstar 40kW). The simple service turned it to a training day for 6 engineers who look after this boiler and do weekly checks but have never had any info on this boiler.

It was a great boiler to train on a few issues with the installation had caused water to get in to the fuel feed tube turning the wood pellets into something that was close to concrete. After spending about an hours taking things to bits and removing rubbish.

A fault code kept coming up, it turned out that somebody had pulled the sensor out the bottom of the buffer tank causing the boiler to over heat as it would always thing the tank was cold.

The boiler was fitted back together and switched on, it came back to life and was working perfectly.
